Making Lists

Here is a list of some things that I hate
I hate soulless pop songs and there is no doubt
That I hate bus stops and airports, and especially stations
Cause nothing spells lonely like a train that pulls outI’m crap at goodbyes, because they make me cry
I just can’t stand to leave or to see you go.
I hate every night that I don’t spend beside you
I just thought that you should know

That to me you love is like a river, I swear, I’ll jump right in
Stayed at the banks for too long, now I want to swim.

But here is also a list of some things that I love
Like snow by the roadside beneath a sky full of blue
I love binge-watching Netflix and hot chocolate and ice cream
I love flea-market-Sundays, elephants and you.
I love red wine and whiskey and ‘The Wind in the Willows’
I love polaroid pictures of you getting dressed
I love late nights in frenzy and going to bed early
And I love making lists as you might have guessed.

I thought home was a concept for dreamers, an abstract, strange state of mind
Gold at end of the rainbow that I couldn’t find

Just tell me, we’ll be fine all along, It’s alright, it’s alright, it’s okay
Hold me and drive those nightmares away, please don’t let them stay
Drive them all away.
It’s alright, she says, it’s alright, it’s ok.

A moment well spent might as well last forever
In the blink of an eye, memories are made
But time and tide, they say, wait for no man.
So let me be clear, before it’s too late:
I just want you to know that you make me feel special.
I just want you to know that you’re the end of my road
You’re my house at the coast when the storm comes in raging
In this show we call life you’re the best episode.
